We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric services. This work started on November 1, 2023. The change of title will not alter the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to assess what is needed for continued professional development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient care.

The area of Forensic Psychiatry is part of Psychiatry Skåne and consists of forensic psychiatric units in Trelleborg, Malmö, Helsingborg, Kristianstad, and Hässleholm. We currently have about 400 employees. Forensic psychiatry cares for society's most functionally impaired individuals, and our patients may have psychotic disorders, brain injuries, severe personality disorders, substance abuse, and neuropsychological disabilities, along with secondary complications such as lack of formal education, criminality, social isolation, and ostracism. The goal of forensic psychiatric care is to habilitate/rehabilitate individuals suffering from severe mental disorders to a drug-free daily life in society with increased psychosocial function and reduced risk of reoffending.

Ward 1 is an admission ward located at the Forensic Psychiatric Center in Trelleborg and has nine care places. Patients may stay with us for longer periods in some cases, which gives us unique opportunities to follow them during the treatment and rehabilitation process. Together with other professionals, care is planned and carried out according to the individual needs of the patient. The work is very outward-facing, and collaboration with municipalities is an essential part of the job. We also work to ensure that all patients in round-the-clock care are our shared responsibility and that it is a given that we help each other between departments when needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant, you will be offered an engaging and exciting job with colleagues who have experience in psychiatric care.

The care work is always based on the individual needs of the patient, and documentation is done using the computer support system Melior. Fundamental to our working method is teamwork, where our different competencies and experiences enrich and complement each other. Our operations are characterized by diversity and high competence. We want to provide you with a developing job, both professionally and personally, where development opportunities and direction are guided by the needs of our patients and their relatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or specialist nursing assistant in psychiatry. This means that you have a recognized high school education in health and social care (2500 points), a recognized health and social care education via adult education (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the job largely involves communication and documentation, good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. You also master basic medical technical procedures at the nursing assistant level.

Applicants who currently hold a permanent position with the job title caregiver can apply and will retain their job title upon possible employment (but no longer than until 2033 when the title caregiver will cease within our operations).

We would like you to have further education in psychiatry, and it is advantageous if you have experience working within psychiatry or with patients with mental health issues. Additionally, good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are beneficial.

As the operation constantly works on developing routines and more, it is a prerequisite that you are positive towards development and change work. For the role, it is important to have self-awareness and to be able to remain calm and have a low-arousal response in stressful situations, which is why we are looking for someone who is secure and stable as a person. With a strong sense of service and responsibility, as well as good collaboration skills, you will humbly meet the situation that the patient and their relatives are facing. We are keen to find the right person and therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Please attach your nursing assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma to the application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in the meantime. If you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, or if you wish to retain the job title caregiver and were employed as such before November 1, 2023, please submit a certificate that verifies this.
