The Ear-Nose-Throat clinic is part of the Neuro-Head-Neck Center. We are a dynamic and modern clinic with a wide range of services from regional healthcare to highly specialized care within the Northern healthcare region, primarily in advanced tumor, trauma, otosurgery, phoniatrics, and audiology.

We offer a stimulating work environment with a pleasant atmosphere. We are now looking for a colleague to join our team who wants to help create a good reception and care for our patients at the Ear-Nose-Throat clinic. We have close cooperation between all staff categories that promotes a good working environment. We meet different patients daily, which varies our workday in a positive way.

At the Ear-Nose-Throat clinic, there are 6 nurses and eight nursing assistants as well as several doctors. It is a fun, varied, and challenging job where you have the opportunity to learn new things every day in a wonderful workgroup. We always help each other, and we have good cooperation with other professional groups within the Ear-Nose-Throat department. The focus is always on the patient. The Ear-Nose-Throat unit is also linked to the Department of Clinical Science within the Faculty of Medicine at Umeå University.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a contact nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.

In the role of contact nurse, you have overall responsibility for patients with head and neck cancer throughout the care chain. Through your role, you create security, continuity, and participation in care for both the patient and their relatives. The work involves being the primary responsible for a patient group where you make your own needs assessments, implement measures, evaluate, and refer contacts to other professional categories. You also participate in diagnosis announcements, provide ongoing information, and follow-up conversations. You have close cooperation with the existing contact nurse and tumor coordinators as well as tumor doctors. Together with the tumor team, you work on the development of organization and routines.

The position also includes some routine tasks at the clinic such as caring for acute and scheduled outpatient patients and telephone advice.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who has a commitment and interest in working closely with patients. It is important that you want to meet the patient from a holistic perspective and that you have an open mind and curiosity to learn. If you feel that you are a person who enjoys working both in a team and individually and want to continue developing in your professional role, this is the job for you.

Oncological experience is an advantage, but we primarily value personal suitability.

We see that you are interested in development and want to drive improvement work. You need to be proactive, have the ability to work independently, and structure your day, which is varied.
