Our Operations
The Acute and Consult Psychiatry Section consists of the emergency department for adult psychiatry, which operates around the clock, a psychiatric acute care ward (PAVA) with 12 beds, and a PAM unit. Patients come to the emergency department around the clock through self-referral/visits but also with police, ambulance, correctional care, and from other healthcare institutions.
Patients who need a shorter or longer period of care are admitted to the psychiatric acute care ward. The admission time at PAVA is approximately 1 - 3 days, after which patients are either discharged or transferred to another ward in the building if they require a longer stay. The emergency department for adult psychiatry and the psychiatric acute care ward are dynamic workplaces where the meeting with the patient and their individual needs is in focus. Since it is both an emergency department and an inpatient ward in the same workplace, the tasks are varied and developing. Here you meet the patient in an acute situation, and based on your specialist knowledge, you make nursing assessments based on the patient's individual needs. To ensure the quality of care, we actively work to develop a good and attractive work environment for nurses. This means that we value and protect the nurse's autonomous professional practice and have high nursing competence.
Your Mission
As a specialist nurse, you are responsible, together with other specialist nurses, for leading and developing psychiatric care both patient-near and at the unit level. You contribute a nursing perspective in the interdisciplinary team and provide collegial guidance to colleagues. You work in both the emergency department for adult psychiatry and the psychiatric acute care ward, with the possibility of also working in the PAM unit. The lead nurse in the emergency department has overall responsibility for the emergency department and the emergency room to provide good and safe emergency care together with nursing staff and doctors. You monitor patient flow, perform an acute initial assessment, and triage patients. The lead nurse in PAVA has overall responsibility for providing good and safe care and delivering person-centered and evidence-based nursing to all patients in collaboration with other professional groups. Here we work in teams, and you are responsible for about 6 patients together with caregivers and collaborate with the other team on the ward in a shared overall responsibility for the patients.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for a new colleague who is a specialist nurse with a focus on psychiatric care and has at least a master's degree in nursing and/or health sciences. It is advantageous if you have previous experience working in psychiatric emergency care, but we do not see it as a requirement. Experience and knowledge of leadership, guidance for students, and experience in quality and development work within psychiatric care are desirable and meritorious.
Your Competence
You are interested in developing in your role as a leader and in the care for patients based on core competencies. You want to work in an acute flow with constantly new patient contacts, you work according to the profession's code of conduct and implement it in practical action in relation to both patients and colleagues. You are proud of your profession, have good analytical and reflective abilities, and contribute your nursing perspective in the interdisciplinary team and provide collegial guidance to colleagues.
