Make a Difference. Every Day.
The area of operations (VO) emergency care and internal medicine offers a spectrum of exciting challenges and opportunities. The emergency services are among the largest in the country, with over 140,000 visits each year. These are distributed across two emergency departments, one in Lund and one in Malmö. Specialist doctors in emergency care are present at both emergency departments and work closely in teams with nurses, nursing assistants, and secretaries.
We train emergency physicians for the future of emergency care with high competence in the front line. The emergency departments have a broad emergency service and a good educational and research climate. The residency program typically lasts five years with the goal of achieving specialist competence in emergency care. A residency plan is established in consultation with the program director, supervisor, and section chief.
