We are now looking for ILS engineers (Integrated Logistics Support) to join us at BAE Systems Bofors in Karlskoga.

Become a part of our dedicated team

With us, you will be offered a systematic, analytical, and varied job where you work with everything from consulting and documentation to technical analyses. Perhaps ILS is a new term for you? If so, that’s not surprising as it is primarily used within the defense sector. In short, it involves analyzing and specifying the operational reliability and maintenance aspects during the development phase of the product, laying the foundation for a robust and maintainable system.

About the position

The positions are located within the Development Department's System Unit, where several colleagues work specifically with maintenance methods, and as a new employee, you will be assigned a mentor, enabling a good start and training in the job. You will also participate in an introductory program to gain insight and understanding of the company's operations, organization, and products.

In this role, you can be based in Karlskoga or at our satellite office in Karlstad. Travel to the headquarters in Karlskoga is part of the job and is determined by the operational needs for on-site presence.

As an ILS engineer, you will conduct maintenance analyses*, both independently and in groups, and provide recommendations on service intervals, replacement of wear parts, spare parts inventory, how service is conducted, and more.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

  • Ensuring maintainability when replacing existing components and new design solutions.
  • Assisting the marketing department with ILS expertise during the quotation phase.
  • Conducting technical analyses of the system to ensure that maintenance can be performed efficiently.
  • Documenting maintenance methods and participating in the development of technical publications.
  • Creating and optimizing spare parts supply based on the customer's operational profile, organization, and inventory.
  • Creating training materials.
  • Participating in design testing as well as reviews with the customer.
  • Maintaining contact with suppliers on maintenance-related issues.

*Analyses that may occur include, for example, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Life Support Cost (LSC), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Reliability Block Diagram (RBD).

Qualifications

We expect you to have:

  • A post-secondary education with a technical focus, preferably in mechanics or electronics. Alternatively, you have work experience deemed equivalent.
  • At least a couple of years of relevant work experience.
  • A broad interest in technology, both electrical and mechanical systems, as the role is broad and encompasses several technical disciplines.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish as well as the corporate language English, both spoken and written.

If you are interested in work processes and methods for improvement, that is a plus. Experience from military operations and/or defense materials is also an advantage.

To succeed in the role, you are good at seeing the big picture and finding solutions to complex tasks. You are also very good at working systematically, and you have a strong analytical side that will come in handy as an ILS engineer. It is also important that you are communicative and feel comfortable handling both internal and external contacts, in both Swedish and English.
