Sterilteknik is part of the Laboratory Medicine area. The Laboratory Medicine area has a collective responsibility for the laboratory medical services provided at the laboratories within Örebro University Hospital, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindesberg Hospital. We operate a broad range of activities in the fields of clinical chemistry, bacteriology, virology, immunology, transfusion medicine including therapeutic plasma exchange treatment, pathology, cytology, and molecular genetics. The Sterilteknik department is also included in this area. Here, nearly 300 people work with routine diagnostics, research and development, and education.

Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is one of the region's three acute hospitals where we provide advanced healthcare, research, and education. As an employee in the sterile technical unit, you will work with the handling of sterile goods for medical devices. The job involves preparing surgical equipment for operations in the form of cleaning, packing, functional checks, and sterilization of equipment. Additionally, participating in improvement work within the unit is also included. Besides the usual handling of traditional surgical materials, manual work with the responsibility of assembling advanced instruments for robotic surgery is also part of the job.

Sterile technicians at Sterilteknik are also responsible for ensuring that the operations are conducted in accordance with established goals and that they develop in line with science, regulations, and the demands of the environment. The work involves handling instruments using equipment that requires knowledge of processes, controls, and validation.

Education as a sterile technician.

We prefer that you have experience working with sterile materials. Experience with T-DOC, relevant training, or certifications in machine maintenance is considered an advantage.
