Responsibilities

We are now looking for a support educator for Backadalens BmSS - a psychiatric residence for individuals with intellectual and neuropsychiatric disabilities.

The residence consists of nine apartments and is integrated into a multi-family house. The operations are conducted in newly built premises at Selma Lagerlöfs Square, with good transport links and proximity to shops and natural areas.

As a support educator, you will have overall responsibility for the educational work at the facility. Your role is to gather and disseminate knowledge about working methods and approaches, as well as to ensure that these are used and developed effectively. Together with the work group, you will establish, implement, and follow up on routines, action plans, and activity descriptions. As a support educator, you will ensure that social documentation and implementation plans are established, further developed, and followed in accordance with laws and guidelines. You will act as support and guide for each individual employee, the work group, and you will also support the manager. You will guide the work group based on the needs and methods of the facility. Together with your colleagues, you will play a central role in the facility's quality development and systematic improvement work. You will be part of a network with other educators and collaborate with relatives, guardians, and other key persons to ensure that residents receive good care, support, and services.

The residence offers support around the clock. We start from the residents' needs and need to adjust working hours accordingly. Working hours are scheduled for day, evening, and weekend shifts. We use Time Care Planning for operationally adapted and flexible schedules. We offer a rewarding and varied job with the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives.

Qualifications

For the position of support educator, a post-secondary specialization in the disability field is required, which includes at least 200 YH points, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits with two years of work experience with people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care. If you lack education, you are not eligible for the position.

Communication and documentation are an important part of the work, which requires that you have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.

We are looking for someone with at least three years of work experience in the role of support educator. Experience with autism, intellectual disabilities, and psychiatric issues is an advantage.

It is also advantageous if you have experience or knowledge in MI (Motivational Interviewing), ESL (An Independent Life), AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), LAB (Low Arousal Approach), and IBIC (Individual Needs in Center).

You communicate clearly and adjust your message according to the recipient and situation. You work independently, take responsibility, and drive your tasks forward. You have the ability to make your own well-founded decisions within the framework of your assignment and remain calm, secure, and professional even in pressured situations.
