Regional Lawyer at the Swedish Schools Inspectorate in Southern Region

Gothenburg, Linköping, and Lund are part of the Southern Region, while Stockholm and Umeå are part of the Northern Region. The head office with all support functions is located in Stockholm.

Workplace

The position is located in the regional staff at the office in Lund. The work is carried out in close collaboration with other regional lawyers as well as with other lawyers at the Swedish Schools Inspectorate. You report to the regional staff manager but also work closely with the regional manager, including responsibility for preparing cases for decisions.

We are looking for

For the role of regional lawyer in the Southern Region, we are looking for someone who, after completing a judicial clerkship or equivalent experience, has acquired several years of experience working in court or other qualified work within public administration. You have broad legal expertise with a very good ability to conduct legal analyses and handle complex legal areas, as well as an interest in informing and educating.

Responsibilities

As a regional lawyer in the Southern Region, you will primarily handle issues within the school law area, but other legislation within the administrative law area may also be relevant. You will contribute to the development of the authority's legal application by coordinating, following up, and developing the legal work. An important task is to monitor the equity in the authority's assessments. You will provide support to the regional management in decision-making and development work, as well as to managers and other lawyers and staff in the region. The work also includes conducting legal investigations and assisting in implementing new legislation and practices. You will also be responsible for disseminating legal information in the region.

Qualifications

You have:

  • A law degree and
  • Judicial clerkship or other equivalent experience.
  • Several years of relevant experience working in court or other legal work within state administration that the Swedish Schools Inspectorate deems equivalent.
  • Current experience in school law issues.

It is advantageous to have:

  • Experience in administrative law issues.
  • Experience from working in higher courts.
  • Experience working in a legal support function.
  • Experience in supervisory activities.

To succeed in this role, you need to be independent, secure in your professional role, and have good self-awareness. You are quality-conscious and have excellent collaboration skills. You are analytical and can quickly understand complex information. You have a very good ability to express yourself clearly, accessibly, and accurately in both speech and writing. You can pedagogically convey legal positions to others. Personal qualities are highly valued.

About the position

The position is a permanent employment. The Swedish Schools Inspectorate applies a 6-month probationary period. The scope is full-time. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
