We are looking for a dedicated certified special educator with high competence and experience in teaching in adapted primary school.

Skarpatorpsskolan is located in the Skarpnäck district and has about 540 students and 100 staff members. Currently, 36 students from preschool class to grade 9 attend our adapted primary school. Skarpatorpsskolan is situated in the heart of Skarpnäck and is close to both nature and the subway station.

We offer

The teachers have subject team meetings once a week where teaching and knowledge development are discussed. Topics covered include systematic quality work, equitable assessments, language-developing methods, clarifying pedagogy, cooperative learning, and digital competence. Joint assessments are conducted at teacher meetings at least once a month.

Planning meetings once a week where special educators and childcare workers/student assistants in each class meet.

Your role

We are looking for a special educator focusing on intellectual disabilities for a class that studies subject areas. The role includes teaching in all subject areas as well as mentorship for the class.

In the role of special educator in adapted primary school, you will:

  • Take responsibility for and have insight into students' results, i.e., be attentive to each student's conditions and needs.
  • Have high expectations for students and their ability to develop.
  • Engage and stimulate students' curiosity, interest, and learning.
  • Take responsibility for relevant professional development to grow in the profession.
  • Guide student assistants in pedagogical matters.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Teaching certification as a Special Educator with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience teaching in adapted primary school.
  • Good collaborative skills, is flexible, solution-focused, and proactive.
  • Main focus on the student's learning and knowledge development.

You see collegial learning as a natural starting point for creating new and deeper knowledge.

You lead and organize work to create a safe learning environment based on mutual respect and collaboration.

You follow the human and knowledge perspective that the teacher's professional ethics rests upon and discuss and process ethical considerations in the profession.

You follow up, assess, communicate, and document the student's knowledge development, thereby supporting the student towards increasingly conscious learning.

We would like you to have experience teaching in the adapted primary school's subject areas.
