Nationalmuseum is looking for: Curator (Education) – Adult Learning and Museum Experience
The position is a permanent full-time employment (100%) with a six-month probation period. The application deadline is January 30, 2026. Start date is as soon as possible, according to agreement.
Do you want to help more adults discover the power of art – regardless of background? Nationalmuseum is looking for a driven curator who wants to develop and renew our work with adult experiences and learning.
Together with us, you will contribute to realizing Nationalmuseum's vision: to reach more people and be a vibrant place for meetings, conversations, and co-creation – with art at the center. You will work practically to plan and also carry out activities – such as tours, short courses, and other public formats. At the same time, the role includes seeking new ways for adults to engage with the museum. You think outside the box and have ideas on how we can make the museum relevant for adults in various life situations, with different cultural backgrounds and from different parts of the country.
The curator position is part of the museum's educational unit and the team that works with the museum's offerings for adults. Together, the team is responsible for developing and managing the museum's offerings for adults and also shares responsibility for coordination and communication with a wider pool of part-time and freelance art educators.
As a curator, you will work closely with many professional groups within other parts of the museum. You will contribute to exhibitions, programs, and development projects related to the collections.
Requirements
- Academic degree in art history, at least at the bachelor's level (B.A.).
- Documented good knowledge of Nationalmuseum's collection areas.
- At least four years of documented experience in operational educational work with adults in art museums or art halls.
- Documented experience in developing, planning, and implementing various exhibition formats, courses, or projects for an adult audience.
- Documented experience in initiating collaborative projects around art education with other actors, such as study associations or companies.
- Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
Meritorious
- Documented language skills beyond Swedish and English.
- Experience and ability to formulate short, persuasive, and target group-adapted texts for exhibitions and programs.
- Good knowledge of contemporary cultural life and the ability to capture what engages.
- Experience in projects or activities with a particular focus on reaching new visitor groups.
- Training in oral presentation/presentation techniques.
