About the Position

Stockholm University will switch its learning platform from Athena to Canvas. In the spring of 2026, Canvas will be made available to employees, who can then begin the work of transferring materials from the previous learning platform and learning how to use Canvas. From the start of the autumn semester 2026, all new courses will be offered in Canvas.

We now need to strengthen our project team within user support with four teaching assistants. As a teaching assistant, you will provide user support for Canvas-related questions, write guides and instructions, and, together with application specialists, conduct digital training aimed at teachers and course administrators. In the long run, it may also become relevant to work with user support for students.

The work is part-time, 25-50%, but may vary during periods depending on the project's needs and to function in combination with studies. The assignment is time-limited to 6 months. The employment is at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, but the work will be carried out in close collaboration with the project's other staff within user support at CeUL and the IT department. A portion of the work can be performed remotely via Zoom. The rest of the work will take place on the Frescati campus.

Responsibilities

As a teaching assistant, you will:

  • Provide guidance and advice to teachers and course administrators and demonstrate how Canvas works, e.g., course navigation, modules, assignments, groups, quizzes, assessments, and course evaluations.
  • Work with user support and respond to questions from users in SU's internal case management system.
  • Produce and contribute to the further development of guides, digital training, and self-study courses as needed.
  • Receive error reports for Canvas and related system integrations, such as the video service and course evaluation tool.
  • Assist application specialists during training sessions.
  • Participate in testing and quality assurance of Canvas functionality.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is admitted to undergraduate or graduate education.
  • Has good collaboration skills.
  • Has good pedagogical ability.
  • Is structured and meticulous.
  • Has good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

  • Previous experience in user support or Helpdesk.
  • Studies at Stockholm University at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Personal Attributes

As a person, you are communicative and solution-oriented. You are structured, meticulous, and flexible, and you have a genuine interest in helping others and providing good service, along with a willingness to learn new areas.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

About the Employment

The employment comprises 50% of full-time and is time-limited to 12 months. Start date according to agreement.
