Our Operations
The cochlear implant team is part of the Hearing and Balance Clinic within the ENT department. The team is responsible for assessing children and adults with severe hearing loss or deafness and rehabilitating them with hearing implants. We receive patients of all ages and from several regions.
As a social worker, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of a coordinator, engineer, audiologist, physician, surgeon, hearing educator, and speech therapist. We work with two types of hearing implants; cochlear implants (CI) and brainstem implants (ABI). In addition to your main assignment with the cochlear implant team, you will also have a certain percentage of work with patients diagnosed with cancer within the ENT department.
Your Mission
As a social worker in the cochlear implant team, you will work both with assessments prior to surgery and with support measures in the subsequent hearing rehabilitation. In the assessment, you are responsible for the psychosocial evaluation, mapping the patient's social situation, network, employment, difficulties arising from hearing loss, and other support needs. After surgery, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting the patient during hearing rehabilitation. You will collaborate closely with other team members and provide information, advice, and support according to the patient's needs. The patient follows a clear care pathway in which the social worker is an important part.
Your tasks include support conversations, assistance with practical issues such as applications for funding and compensations, as well as planning and coordination with other healthcare providers, authorities, and stakeholders. This may involve the Social Insurance Agency, the Employment Agency, schools, employers, and the home municipality and region for coordination of support measures. Your mission also includes providing information and support to relatives, all to enable the best possible hearing rehabilitation for the patient.
In addition to working with the cochlear implant team, you will also assist the ENT department in supporting their patients who are undergoing or have been treated for cancer in the head and neck area. Your tasks will include supportive conversations, assistance with practical issues, and coordination with social workers at the oncology clinic when needed. With us, you will have the chance to play an important role in patient-centered work within an experienced multidisciplinary team with exciting hearing technology solutions. We offer you access to supervision.
Your Qualifications
You are a trained social worker. It is particularly meritorious if you are a licensed healthcare social worker with several years of experience working with patients, preferably in rehabilitation. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge of network work, collaboration with other authorities, and experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
Your Competence
You enjoy working independently as well as in a team. You are also structured with a problem-solving approach. The work is independent, and we place great emphasis on personal qualities such as commitment, interest in the patient group, initiative, and a very good ability to collaborate. Our patients are very satisfied with the care they receive from us, and we place great value on providing them with the best possible care.
We offer you as an employee an engaged team with competent colleagues and a good working climate. We place great importance on personal suitability.
