JOB DESCRIPTION
As a child caseworker responsible for monitoring placed children, you work to ensure that each child receives the care, support, and security that the placement is intended to provide. You play a central role in following up on the child's situation through regular conversations with the child, visits to the foster home, and close dialogue with the child's guardians, foster parents, and other important people in the child's network. The work involves close collaboration with foster homes, open care, schools, healthcare, and other relevant actors to coordinate efforts and promote the child's development.
During the placement, new needs or risk factors may arise. You are responsible for making preliminary assessments, safety assessments, and, if necessary, initiating new investigations according to BBIC. The assignment requires a good ability to assess children's protection needs, make legally secure decisions, and document according to applicable legislation. The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues and the unit manager, with a shared responsibility for ensuring that children in public care receive the support they are entitled to.
As a foster care secretary, you have an important role in creating stable and secure foster care placements. Your main task as a foster care secretary is to recruit and assess new foster homes, contact families, and contact persons for children and youth. Together with the child's social worker, you work to match each foster home to the child's needs. You are responsible for following up on foster care placements, supporting the foster homes in their assignments, and providing them with guidance and training to ensure they can provide the best possible care.
Our goal is to have foster homes under our own management, and we are committed to developing our work with foster homes to ensure that all children and youth in our care receive the security and support they are entitled to.
The work involves regular home visits, guidance, and advice to ensure that placed children receive the right care and support based on their individual needs. In your contact, you continuously assess the foster homes' ability to carry out their assignments, identify training needs or other support. You work closely with the child's social worker, including through joint follow-ups to ensure that each individual placement functions well.
The role also includes calculating and following up on fees and expenses, in accordance with the municipality's guidelines and the individual child's needs.
