This is what the child secretary group in the family home team says, which is now looking for a new colleague.
About the Position
The family home team is placed within the unit for family homes and family law within IFO and is responsible for all work concerning the children placed in family homes. The team consists of:
- Family home secretaries – some with special responsibility for recruitment, investigation, and training of new family homes and contact families, and the rest responsible for support and guidance of existing family homes. The group is led by a senior family home secretary.
- Child secretaries who are responsible for follow-up work with the placed children and contact with their parents and networks. The group is led by a senior child secretary. We have an administrative assistant and social assistant to relieve us so that time is freed up as much as possible for our main task; the social work.
All staff within IFO are trained according to Signs of Safety. This means that we work to ensure that children, families, and networks are involved in how problems can be solved. We believe in the person's own abilities and conditions to take control of their continued life. Through the Signs of Safety approach and various tools, along with a strong child rights perspective, we can create better conditions for sustainable solutions for those we meet. We will provide you with training in Signs of Safety if you do not have it.
Your Responsibilities
As a child secretary, you are responsible for monitoring care, recognizing and meeting the needs of the placed children through continuous meetings, conversations, and activities with the children and the people or actors who are important to them. You also have regular contact with the biological parents.
Your role means that you are responsible for the authority's exercise and thus all the administrative tasks involved in processing such as investigations, considerations/reassessments, record-keeping, and other documentation. Child secretaries and family home secretaries work in teams on all cases, and with the help of our school family team, you also work with the children's need for support in schoolwork both at school and in the family home. The position may involve some travel as some of our children are placed on the mainland.
Who are you?
You have a degree in social work and experience working with children and youth. A driver's license is required. If you have knowledge of and experience in investigative work and Signs of Safety, it is an advantage.
It is important that you have good collaboration skills and a humble attitude towards those we meet. You have the ability to put the child at the center and have good knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and children's rights. You should be able to express yourself well in writing and enjoy working both in teams and individually.
