The Fortifications Agency is experiencing strong growth, and the command staff is now organizing a new preparedness unit to streamline and enhance the agency's capabilities in preparedness work both internally and externally. The Fortifications Agency owns, develops, and manages properties for total defense. We are experts in fortification, which means protection and construction technology. Our main mission is to contribute to increased defense capability – for a safe and free Sweden. The Fortifications Agency has a vital societal task, and in recent years, its operations have steadily grown. Our growth continues, and we are managing extensive acquisitions and new constructions while upgrading and enhancing our existing property portfolio.
Your Everyday Life – Contribute to Sweden's Defense Capability
The Fortifications Agency is in a strong expansion phase with large investment volumes to continue developing and building properties and facilities within the defense sector. The command staff consists of several units that work with creating conditions for the entire agency, both in the short and long term. The serious security situation places high demands on the Fortifications Agency to operate at all levels of conflict.
The Preparedness Unit is responsible for strategic leadership and coordination of the agency's tasks within total defense planning with the Armed Forces and other partners, as well as governance, coordination, and follow-up of crisis and preparedness issues. Coordination and administration of the agency's crisis management organization are also part of the unit's tasks.
As a unit manager, you will be responsible for developing, unifying, and coordinating the Fortifications Agency's preparedness work. The unit manager's work is carried out in close collaboration with other departments, and good collaboration skills with an unpretentious working style are prerequisites for success in the role. Travel is required in the position, as the Fortifications Agency operates throughout the country.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Academic education in a relevant field, or other experience deemed relevant by the employer.
- Several years of work experience at a strategic level from the civilian or military defense.
- Experience leading in complex organizations with responsibility for preparedness and crisis management.
- Good knowledge of the civilian preparedness system, the military defense, and total defense.
You have good knowledge of administrative IT support systems and communicate and express yourself well both orally and in writing in both Swedish and English. A Class B driver's license is required.
Meritorious:
- Experience collaborating in total defense contexts.
- Post-secondary education in crisis preparedness and total defense.
- Experience in planning and executing operational activities within preparedness.
- Experience in planning and executing activities in a NATO context.
- Experience driving development work, e.g., in continuity planning, risk and vulnerability analyses (RVA), or crisis management.
- Experience as a manager with personnel responsibility.

About the Employment
The position is a permanent employment and may begin with a probationary period. As a permanent employee, you will be placed in a war position. The place of employment is Eskilstuna. Employment with us requires Swedish citizenship and entails placement in a security class. A security check with a background check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act.
