Are you a nursing assistant interested in the eye and technology? Then this could be a position for you! The role suits those who want a varied workday with changing work pace.

At our clinics in Lund and Malmö, we treat patients with cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic changes, and age-related macular degeneration. We perform laser treatments, intravitreal injections for various eye conditions, as well as tear duct and eyelid problems. In our highly specialized ophthalmology, we conduct diagnostics and surgeries of the retina, cornea, strabismus, and more. We have an extensive surgical operation with experienced eye specialist surgeons. We receive patients of all ages.

The ophthalmology care unit is at the forefront of both basic and specialist training for doctors, and extensive research is conducted at the ophthalmology departments within Lund University in both Malmö and Lund. In addition to meeting the needs of residents in Malmö and Lund for eye care, we also provide regional eye care for Halland, Kronoberg, and Blekinge. In total, we are about 240 employees within the operation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant with us, a day may involve various vision tests such as intraocular pressure measurement, visual acuity, and visual fields, as well as administering eye drops as prescribed and assisting with various eye treatments. You will work in different teams where you collectively are responsible for examination rooms and waiting areas.

The position also includes on-call duties during weekday evenings and weekends. You will handle phone calls and manage incoming calls from other departments together with the eye emergency team. Together, you will receive patients who need to be examined urgently after office hours.

We provide an introductory training program in ophthalmology that is tailored individually to you and your experiences.

Work hours are during the day, evenings, and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained nursing assistant and meet the requirements for a protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare, regardless of whether you have studied according to previous or current program structures. Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are required. We prefer candidates with previous experience working as a nursing assistant. Experience in outpatient work and work experience in ophthalmology is particularly meritorious. Since we work in the IT systems Melior and Pasis, we view experience with these positively.

You who apply have a strong interest in learning more about ophthalmology. The work involves many technical measurements, so it is beneficial if you are interested in technology and ready for an exciting challenge. As ophthalmology has large patient flows, we seek individuals who enjoy changes and varying work pace during a shift. Additionally, it is crucial that you can collaborate and communicate with patients, relatives, and colleagues. Personal suitability is highly valued.
