We utilize our by-products by producing and delivering climate-friendly biogas and returning plant nutrients to productive farmland. Job Responsibilities
As a GIS technician with us, you play an important role in ensuring and developing accurate mapping and geodata support for our water and wastewater operations. The role combines operational work with measurement, documentation, and GIS, with a responsibility to contribute to the development of maps, analyses, and work methods based on the needs of the organization.
You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and projects and help create GIS support that is useful in everyday life and sustainable over time.
Job Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include, among others:
- Working with surveying, setting out, and documenting water and wastewater facilities.
- Updating, quality-assuring, and managing maps and geodatabases.
- Producing mapping materials and analyses to support operations, maintenance, investigations, and projects.
- Contributing to the development of mapping and GIS support as new needs arise in the organization.
- Coordinating improvements in work methods, information flows, and the use of geodata in collaboration with colleagues and system administrators.
- On-call duty may be included in the position.
Qualifications
Who are you?
You have an interest in geodata and how maps and analyses can be used to support technical operations. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively and can communicate clearly and humbly. You have the ability to see the big picture while being meticulous about details. We prefer that you are a solution-oriented person who enjoys working independently.
Requirements for the position:
- Relevant technical post-secondary education, or work experience that the employer considers equivalent.
- Experience working with GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
- Driver's license class B.
Desirable qualifications:
- Experience with surveying and setting out using total stations and GPS.
- Familiarity with GIS systems as well as systems like CAD and VA-banken.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater technology and network analysis.
- Driver's license class BE.
The employer applies a 6-month probationary period.
