Do you want to work in a laboratory and be an important part of the analysis chain behind the development of the steel of the future? We are now looking for a meticulous and dedicated laboratory technician for the metallography laboratory in Oxelösund.

Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of the planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. We have therefore developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

As a laboratory technician in research testing, metallography, you will perform metallographic examinations of steel samples. You will be part of a team of experienced technicians and engineers and participate in analyses that support production, research, and product development.

Through strong collaboration within the group, you contribute to the company's success, especially in the exciting time we face with the climate transition in the steel industry.

The position is temporary but has a good chance of extension depending on the needs of the business.

Your main responsibilities

  • Perform various types of metallographic examinations of steel. The tasks can be both routine and more advanced.
  • Work towards clear requirements for quality, lead time, and delivery precision.
  • Contribute to good order, maintenance of equipment, and improvements in working methods and routines.
  • Document results and maintain good traceability in the lab environment.

About you

  • You have a high school education in technology, industry, natural sciences, or equivalent experience from industry.
  • You have good accuracy and quality awareness.
  • You have an interest in practical lab work and technical elements.
  • You have good communication skills and find it easy to collaborate with different functions.
  • You need to be able to communicate in Swedish both verbally and in writing.
  • You enjoy practical work and have an interest in materials and technology.
  • It is an advantage if you have experience working in an industrial or lab environment, metallography, sample preparation, or microscopy.
