GIS Engineer at Strängnäs Municipality

We are now expanding our unit with another experienced GIS engineer! Are you proactive, self-driven, and passionate about geodata, development, and improvement work? Then you might be the missing piece we need for our fantastic team!

The GIS unit is organizationally placed within the Strängnäs Municipality's Community Building Office as one of seven units. We currently have seven dedicated employees with different competencies, including the unit manager. In addition to GIS issues, we work on building the municipality's primary map, the 3D city model, measurement activities, drone operations, address and apartment registers, and manage the municipality's property and resident registers, among other things.

We work closely together and support each other in our daily tasks. We are currently developing services based on ArcGIS Enterprise, both internal and external, and also increasing our service function. Therefore, we are looking for a colleague who can complement us in terms of skills so that we are well-equipped to meet the challenges that Strängnäs Municipality will face in the future.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a GIS engineer who wants to help develop our operations. With us, you will have the opportunity, together with your colleagues, to develop and manage products and services based on ESRI's GIS platform as well as general and operational-specific web mapping services, field apps, dashboards, perform geographic analyses relevant to municipal operations, contribute to building metadata management, commitments according to the open data directive, future digital twins, etc. In 2026, we will implement GAIDA with several modules.

The need to analyze geographic information, develop services based on ArcGIS Enterprise, and integrate our various systems in connection with the digitization of the community building process will grow. We are a well-knit team, and we support each other with all the tasks that arise within the operational area, such as support, training, geodata management, GIS analyses, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• a university degree in GIS/GIT or other relevant education/experience that the employer deems appropriate.
• good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• several years of work experience in the requested operational area with a focus on development, administration, and analysis.
• knowledge/experience in database management (MSSQL server and PostGIS), FME, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, GAIDA, and APIs.
• knowledge/experience in metadata management.
• knowledge/experience in geographic analyses in ESRI's GIS platform and FME.

Your personal qualities are important, and we will place great emphasis on them! You are proactive and self-driven, and you find it easy to work with others in projects, both within the office and with other departments in the municipality's organization. You are structured and have no problem transferring skills to your colleagues. You are attentive and service-oriented as we are a service function.

We have just moved into newly renovated and fresh premises where we apply an activity-based working method. In agreement with the unit manager and when conditions allow, there is also the possibility of remote work.
