The Role of ST-Physician

Do you want to develop into a skilled breast radiologist in a setting that combines highly specialized care, research, and new technology? Then this is the position for you.

We are now offering for the first time two ST-positions in mammography, where you combine an ST in radiology with a subspecialization in mammography.

As an ST-physician with us in the mammography department at Länssjukhuset Ryhov in Jönköping, you will receive comprehensive training in breast radiology in close collaboration with experienced specialists and an engaged team. You will participate in the entire care chain – from screening and clinical mammography to investigations with ultrasound, MRI, biopsies, tomosynthesis biopsies, and vacuum excisions.

With us, you will become part of a well-functioning breast process with close contact with breast surgeons, oncologists, and pathologists. You will participate in multidisciplinary conferences and receive continuous supervision throughout your ST period. The position provides a broad radiological competence with a special focus on breast diagnostics.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date according to agreement.

Your Future Workplace

The Radiology department in Region Jönköping County is a regional clinic with about 380 employees distributed across hospitals in Jönköping, Eksjö, and Värnamo. We conduct modern, high-tech diagnostics with a wide range: computed tomography, MRI, ultrasound, interventions, nuclear medicine, and mammography.

The mammography area performs approximately 17,000 clinical examinations and 36,000 health checks (screening) annually. The clinical operations are located in Jönköping, while screening takes place in Jönköping, in the mammography van in Höglandet, and at the radiology department in Värnamo. We have about 30 employees, several of whom are specialists in breast radiology.

Five years ago, we moved into newly built, well-adapted facilities at Länssjukhuset Ryhov. The facilities are bright, modern, and equipped for future diagnostics. We use Sectra RIS/PACS and operate in a certified environment according to ISO 9001:2015.

The Radiology department in Region Jönköping County is a development-intensive clinic, where we continuously follow up, improve, and renew our work. We have regional routines, regular continuing education, and collegial support – here you will find both breadth and depth.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is a licensed physician or at the end of their general medical training and wants to specialize in radiology with a focus on mammography.

You are responsible, meticulous, and thrive in a learning environment with a strong patient focus. You have good collaboration skills and communicate clearly with colleagues and patients. You see the opportunities in the development of AI and new technology and want to help shape the future of breast radiology. We place great importance on personal suitability, interest in imaging diagnostics, and the desire to contribute to a positive work environment.

Since travel within the county is part of the job, a B driver's license is a requirement.

Our Offer to You

As an ST-physician with us, you will receive a structured and high-quality specialist training in radiology according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's goal description. You will get individually tailored ST planning in collaboration with supervisors, managers, and study directors. The training includes rotations within the county and at the university hospital in Linköping.

The training takes place in the first four years on a half-time basis in general radiology and half-time in mammography. After four years, you will focus on mammography for an additional two to three years.

You will have access to modern technology and training in the latest diagnostic methods, including AI support, contrast mammography, and MRI of the breast.
