Embedded Developer at Axis
As an Embedded Developer, you will develop Linux kernel for advanced, custom-built platforms at the forefront of technology. You will join an experienced team where you work closely with both hardware and software, and have the opportunity to influence the future platforms.
Job Description
As an Embedded Developer, you will work in a team responsible for low-level software and the development of the Linux kernel for Axis platforms. The role involves participating in the entire platform development process – from bringing up new hardware to validation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of the Linux kernel. You will work on getting the hardware to communicate with the software, analyze errors, develop drivers, and contribute to upstream activities within open source.
The team works both on the further development of existing platforms and the creation of upcoming generations, including analysis, bring-up, validation, and improvement of hardware and software support.
The role also includes work in a lab environment with oscilloscopes, signal measurements, and debugging.
Summary:
- Bring-up, validation, debugging, and kernel development
- Driver development, troubleshooting, and work towards open source/upstream
- Analysis and preparations for future hardware and platforms
About the Candidate
We are looking for an Embedded Developer with an engineering background in technical physics, electrical engineering, or computer engineering. You have a good understanding of programming in C and an interest in how hardware and software interact. Experience with Linux kernel, Raspberry Pi, or open-source projects is a plus but not a requirement.
You need to be analytical, curious, and meticulous, and thrive in an environment where teamwork and knowledge sharing are central. The strong seniority in the team means you will have good opportunities to develop – provided you have the willingness and ability to learn new things.
Requirements:
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English
- Engineering degree in technical physics, electrical engineering, or computer engineering
- Programming experience in C
Preferred:
- Experience with Linux kernel, such as drivers or upstream work
- Work in embedded Linux environments, such as scripting or debugging
- Experience with bootloaders, RTOS, or build systems for embedded platforms
- Experience with PCB design or other hardware-related development
- Contributions to open-source projects and familiarity with C/C++/Rust/Python or debugging tools
