Workplace Description

The Police Region North is the largest region in terms of area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police areas: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which are divided into 12 local police areas.

The police area of Västernorrland is divided into three local police areas: Medelpad, Northern Ångermanland, and Southern Ångermanland. At the police area level, there is an investigation section, serious crimes section, section for particularly vulnerable crime victims, on-call preliminary investigation management, investigation section, criminal economics section, and station command operations. Furthermore, there is a police area office.

The position is a summer temporary position during the period from June to August with a chance for extension on hours.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an investigator, you will have tasks that are directly related to the preliminary investigation process.

Main responsibilities:

  • Receive and establish police reports in the reporting reception
  • Conduct simple interviews via phone and physically in the reporting reception
  • Take investigative measures
  • Administer documents in IT systems

Other tasks may occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Completed high school education or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
  • Relevant work experience in service with external direct contacts in the form of personal meetings that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
  • Good computer skills
  • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English

We consider it meritorious if you also:

  • Are a police student
  • Have post-secondary education in criminology
  • Have relevant experience of working within the police, another authority, or public administration that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
  • Have relevant administrative experience that the employer assesses as relevant
  • Have relevant experience from the police's IT systems
  • Have experience in writing and producing larger amounts of text in Swedish that the employer assesses as relevant for the position

Personal Qualities

As an employee, you are the face of the police and are expected to work based on commitment, availability, and efficiency.

As an investigator, there is a requirement for the ability to work structured in a changing work pace without affecting accuracy or the treatment of others. The tasks vary with many contact points, thus requiring a service-oriented and flexible approach with good social competence. You need to have a good ability to work in a team as well as individually. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.

If you become a candidate for employment, you do not have the right to vacation leave. Instead, you will receive vacation compensation paid after the employment has ended.

Occasional shorter leave with salary deduction may be granted if the operation allows it and then in agreement with the manager.

An employment with the Police Authority may begin with a probationary period of six months.
