Community Building, Culture, and Public Health Administration (SKF)

is one of the country’s broadest and most diversified administrations and includes seven units (Emergency Services, Environmental Unit, Planning and Building Unit, Technical Unit, Meal Unit, Culture Unit, and Recreation Unit) as well as an Administrative Office. Our goal is to be a forward-leaning, change-oriented, and service-oriented administration that is held together by our common development work and our striving to enhance each other in our respective professions. At SKF, we work at a fast pace with the broadest palette of municipal tasks, which requires our employees to look beyond their respective operations to contribute to a whole within the administration. In our operations, we respond to three political committees: the Community Building Committee, the Culture & Public Health Committee, and the Conflict of Interest Committee.

The Planning and Building Unit

consists of 21 people who, with different competencies and characteristics, contribute to community building in Laholm Municipality. Within the unit, there are planning architects, building permit administrators, housing adaptation officers, cartographers, and measurement engineers as well as GIS engineers.

The unit is responsible for a large part of the community building process, and within our assignment lies detailed planning, building permits, and the implementation part, supervision according to PBL, housing adaptation grants, establishment and maintenance of the municipality's map works, measurement activities, GIS development, and more.

About the Position

As a building inspector, you will become part of an office where everyone contributes to creating the physical environment in Laholm.

You, along with another building inspector, are part of the planning and building unit's building permit department, where you discuss and support each other in daily work.

In addition to your closest colleagues who work with building permits, you will have colleagues who work with housing adaptation grants, detailed plans, and cartographic, measurement, and GIS activities.

For the position, you need to be technically knowledgeable about buildings, and you will primarily work with the implementation part. You are responsible for processing notification cases, making decisions on start and final approvals, leading technical consultations and final consultations, and conducting site visits. Other tasks include supervision as well as advice and information to residents, construction companies, and others.

As part of the position, you may also work with processing housing adaptation grants.

You will work independently but also together with colleagues to develop processes and routines and maintain professional knowledge.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for someone who is a university-educated building engineer or has targeted training for building inspectors, or has another educational background and experience that we assess to be equivalent.

You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Planning and Building Ordinance, the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's regulations, and the entire building process. A basic requirement for the job is that you are technically knowledgeable about buildings, have good IT skills, and a good ability to read drawings. We work in the case management system Nova.

As a person, you are proactive, goal- and results-oriented, meticulous, see the big picture, and have an easy time expressing yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

In your work, you will have many contacts with municipal residents, companies, and authorities, which requires your ability to be attentive and service-oriented. You have an understanding of working in a politically governed organization.
