About the organization:

Vallentuna is growing - therefore we are now expanding our organization with an additional urban planner. As an urban planner, you will belong to the Planning Department of the Community Building Administration, which currently consists of nine employees; five urban planners, three environmental planners, and one visualizer. The Planning Department primarily works with the development of detailed plans, planning programs, and processing planning decisions. We work in project form and base our work on the project model for community building projects.

Vallentuna Municipality offers a wide variety of projects, and we work with everything from infill projects in the municipality's urban areas, development of rural areas, to the establishment of new city districts. Currently, we are working on the expansion and continued detailed planning of the Kristineberg district, as well as several projects in public transport-adjacent locations as part of the Sweden Negotiation.

Job Responsibilities:

In 2026, work will also begin on the municipality's new comprehensive plan, where the Planning Department has an important advisory role in its development. As an urban planner, you will be responsible for preparing detailed plans, planning decisions, feasibility studies, and planning programs. You will work in project form and be a valuable member of the project group, which consists of various competencies within the municipality. With the support of the project group, you will be responsible for preparing planning documents, conducting necessary investigations, and planning and implementing the activities included in the planning process. You are an active member throughout the project, from feasibility study to expansion. You are expected to have excellent communication skills, as the role of urban planner involves contact with colleagues within the Community Building Administration and other departments, as well as external dialogues with consultants, developers, and municipal residents.

As an urban planner, there is also the opportunity to work as the main project manager with overall responsibility in community building projects. In the role of main project manager, you will be responsible for the project's progress, finances, timeline, and goal fulfillment from start until the project is completed and can be handed over to operations.

The municipality works in various tools including Detailed Plan Total, PlanDirect, Antura, Adobe package, M365, etc.

Qualifications:

• Relevant higher education/university degree.
• Several years of experience as an urban planner.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Experience as a project manager is an advantage.
• Experience working in a politically governed organization is an advantage.
• Experience with Antura is an advantage.
