About the position

As a trainee, you will have a unique opportunity to work on issues that are crucial for Sweden's electricity supply and societal safety. The role involves contributing to strengthening the operational electricity grid's continuity and total defense capability.

You will work on developing capabilities such as manual load shedding and black start, which are central to rebuilding operations after a grid failure. The work includes system protection plans, restoration plans, and testing plans related to the Net Code Emergency & Restoration, as well as planning and conducting exercises. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the management and development of regulations and guidelines related to these capabilities.

As a trainee, you will be part of the Operations Support unit with about 17 employees, where you will work closely with experienced colleagues and build a broad network both internally and externally. The role offers you great development opportunities and a chance to influence the work of strengthening Svenska kraftnät's capabilities under conditions outside normal operating states.

In your role as a trainee, you are an important ambassador and face of Svenska kraftnät. We are looking for someone who is curious, engaged, and humble in the fact that no one knows everything from the start. As a trainee with us, you will have a unique opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. During the trainee year, you will participate in training, mentoring, and practical experiences that prepare you for the future – while also contributing new perspectives and energy to our operations.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. You are goal-oriented and structured in your approach, while also being relationship-oriented and building trust through attentiveness and respect.

We value a humble attitude towards learning – with us, it is perfectly okay not to have all the answers right away. Even though much will be prepared and structured for you during your trainee year, it is crucial that you take responsibility for your own work and development with us.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. Svenska kraftnät is a government authority, and it is important that you adhere to the governmental value framework.

When the program starts, you should have an academic degree or a vocational school diploma with a focus on electrical power, security, or a relevant equivalent field that we commend as relevant. Your degree should be issued in 2024, 2025, or expected in the summer of 2026. Since we are looking for someone who is new in their career, we want you to have a maximum of two years of work experience, before or after your studies. Part-time jobs during your studies do not count.

We consider it an advantage if you have experience with:

• Familiarity with the European network codes NC ER and/or SO GL
