The City Planning Office is planning for a future Stockholm on behalf of the City Planning Committee. We work with urban planning both at a strategic and detailed level, building permits, city measurement, property formation, and housing adaptation. The City Planning Office has about 340 employees and we are centrally located in Kungsholmen, about a ten-minute walk from Stockholm Central Station. The City Measurement Department is one of the four departments of the City Planning Office and currently has about 65 employees.
We are responsible for geodata-related tasks within the administration, including the production, maintenance, and distribution of the city's geographic data, 3D visualization, preparation of planning maps, property registers, and we have a model workshop. We also have a municipal land surveying authority.
Urban Planning Support is one of four specialist units within the City Measurement Department. The unit's cartographers work together with urban planners and building permit administrators to produce various types of documentation and support for the urban planning process, such as planning maps for detailed plans, base maps, and property registers, new construction maps, as well as building, apartment, and address registration. Today, the unit consists of 15 employees, divided into two teams.

Your role
As a cartographer, you will be part of a team that produces planning maps, base maps, and property registers in the detailed planning process. You will work closely with urban planners and establish planning maps in dialogue with them. The planning maps are created in the systems Focus Detailed Plan Total and Microstation. Before consultations, we prepare posters with information about the detailed plan proposal for the citizens. The consultation posters are made in the software InDesign.
In the process of establishing planning maps, you will also produce base maps and property registers, with field measurements conducted by another unit. In this role, you will also collaborate with measurement engineers and, if necessary, the municipal land surveying authority.
The work involves managing several detailed plans simultaneously and contributing to the team's development through routine work, environmental monitoring, internal reviews, and improvement of work processes. The role may also include additional tasks within the unit or department.
The position is a parental leave substitute for a maximum length of one year.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- a vocational education with a focus on cartography/cartographic technology, a university education in urban planning, or another equivalent education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
- the ability to express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing.
It is an advantage if you also have:
- current work experience in producing planning maps for detailed plans according to the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's regulations and in producing property registers.
- understanding of the detailed planning process.
