Nursing Assistant for General Psychiatry Ward in Gävle

We welcome adults from 18 years old with acute and serious psychiatric conditions to the general psychiatric ward in Gävle. The ward has about 45 employees who together are responsible for 20 beds. Here we offer specialist psychiatric care around the clock to reduce the difficulties that the psychiatric diagnosis entails in daily life. We treat patients with various general psychiatric diagnoses. Here you will work in a modern psychiatric facility together with other professionals where we jointly drive development to meet future needs. Our goal is to adapt the resources of care according to each patient's individual needs and wishes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant in the general psychiatric ward, you will be part of a team consisting of different professional groups working with patient care and treatment. The team assesses each patient's needs for support, care, and treatment. As a nursing assistant, you work closely with the patient to ensure good care and safety, and you work recovery-oriented.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who easily builds good relationships, collaborates with others, and has a positive attitude. You should be able to function in a team but also act independently and make quick decisions responsibly and innovatively when the situation requires it. You have good communication skills and can communicate and handle situations with people in distress. The work can be challenging, both physically and mentally, as the facility sometimes cares for very seriously ill patients, and having good physical fitness is prioritized as we may face situations where this is needed. As a person, you should be calm and stable, with the ability to convey security in situations that require a high level of safety awareness and flexibility. In the role of nursing assistant, you should:

• have a nursing assistant diploma.

For this position, it is an advantage if you have experience working as a nursing assistant, preferably within psychiatric inpatient care and/or addiction care. It is also advantageous if you have education focused on psychiatry.

Information about the title Nursing Assistant

As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare and social services, but with a different title than nursing assistant. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
