Job Advertisement: Nurse for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

The Child and Adolescent Center in Västerbotten is a regional clinic responsible for all specialist care in the county for children and adolescents aged 0–18 years. The operations are broad and span several medical areas, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The NICU is an intensive care unit at Norrland University Hospital (NUS) for sick newborns and premature infants. Here, children who require advanced intensive care or intermediate care at the beginning of their lives are treated. We also provide neonatal home care as part of offering safe, good, and close care. We work with family-centered developmental supportive care, which means that parents are involved as much as possible in the care of their child. The unit is highly staffed around the clock.
The NICU has regional responsibility for all neonatal intensive care in northern Sweden. We have close collaboration with the maternity ward and other neonatal departments. The unit has its own neonatal transport team responsible for all neonatal transports in the northern healthcare region.
Extensive research is conducted at the unit, both medical and nursing research. The NICU is an internationally respected department that is world-leading in the care of extremely premature infants.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes children and their relatives feel secure. Your most important task as a nurse with us is the care of the sick child and their family.
The work offers great variety and change in content and pace, from advanced intensive care of severely ill and premature infants, intermediate care for children needing less intensive interventions, to co-care where the child stays with their parents in family rooms on the unit. Daily work also involves handling medical technical equipment.

You work closely with other professionals, forming a team that creates security for the patient and family. The family is an important part of the care for the small child that we cherish. A significant part of the work therefore consists of supporting, teaching, and empowering parents in their role.
You will receive training tailored to your previous experiences and individual needs. We have a mentorship program where you, as a new employee, are offered a mentor after your training. The unit conducts regular professional development with various internal training sessions for all professional categories. There is great opportunity for you to develop in your role as a nurse at the NICU.
You are offered a permanent position within Region Västerbotten with a temporary placement at the NICU. The work schedule includes day, evening, and night shifts in a work-time model adapted to the operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with experience in the field. Further education in pediatrics, intensive care, or midwifery is highly meritorious.
You are a secure and responsible person with an interest in intensive care and wish to develop together with others in a world-leading healthcare environment. You have the ability to work independently while teamwork is a given for you. You have a good ability to prioritize, are flexible, and thrive in an environment with varying intensity and tasks. You see the value of good communication between colleagues and families and enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience.
