The Scouts constantly strive to reach new target groups so that more children and young people and their families can try scouting in new forms. For several years, we have collaborated with schools and after-school programs in various parts of the Stockholm area to offer scouting as part of school and leisure activities.  We have also organized day camps where children and young people can experience scouting during the summer holidays. We are now looking for a person to work in the Järva area.   

About the position  

In this exciting and developing role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with children who have not yet discovered scouting. Together with your colleagues, you will inspire young people and provide them with a meaningful leisure time filled with adventure, community, and new friends.  

Every week during the terms, you will conduct scouting at schools and after-school programs in the area. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities in close collaboration with school and leisure staff.  

You will have support from colleagues within the Scouts who work with the same mission in other locations in Sweden, which provides you with both experience exchange and community. In Järva, you will be the local responsible person and an important driving force in developing scouting in the area.   

During the summer months, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership by leading summer workers for three weeks. The period begins with a week of leadership training where the young people will deepen their knowledge of the scouting method and outdoor life techniques. This is followed by two weeks during which they, together with you, will conduct day scout camps that are open to all children in the area.  

You will have overall responsibility for camp planning, conduct training for the summer workers, and lead the day camp activities during the weeks. After the camp, you will also be responsible for evaluation and follow-up to ensure quality and development.  

The day camps are conducted according to the same setup by colleagues around the country who work with scouting in schools. This means that you will have the opportunity to plan the summer camp together with them while exchanging experiences and ideas.  

About you  

-To fit in this role, we see that you have:  

-Experience working with children and young people  

-Experience and understanding of voluntary engagement, preferably within the Scouts  

-Experience working in areas with socio-economic challenges  

-A background in school, leisure, or other educational activities  

-Knowledge and experience of outdoor life  

-Experience in project management  

-Experience working towards clear goals and the ability to plan, implement, document, and evaluate your work  

-A valid driver's license (B)   It is an advantage if you have education in pedagogy, outdoor life, leisure leadership, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent for the position.  

You enjoy outdoor life and being in nature. In this position, you will primarily work outdoors at schools in the Järva area. You are a secure role model and have the ability to inspire children and young people, seeing potential in their abilities. Additionally, you have a coaching approach and are happy to support young people into new responsibilities. You have well-developed self-leadership and solve problems where they arise, as well as easily create new contacts. You work in a structured manner and enjoy varied tasks.

More about the position  

The position is a permanent employment at 100% with start as soon as possible according to agreement. You will be affiliated with the Scouts' office in Örnsberg.  

You will primarily work during the day. A few times per term, you will travel within Sweden to meet colleagues in the Scouting in Schools group or to participate in activities at our national offices, such as staff days. Occasionally, work in the evenings and weekends may occur.  

The Scouts are covered by a collective agreement between Fremia and Unionen. We value diversity and welcome applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.
