Job Description

Our network within Rock Engineering consists of approximately 200 employees stationed in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada. In Sweden, we have offices from Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north. We have engaged employees with specialist knowledge in engineering geology, rock mechanics, blasting technology, and bedrock geology. Our teams are involved in assignments ranging from mapping and field investigations for roads and railways, modeling of mineral deposits, feasibility studies, and rock inspections for hydropower, fieldwork, and detailed design of new infrastructure, as well as technical support during the construction phase for new housing projects.

We are currently looking for you who are a geologist or engineer with experience in field investigations and assessments for construction in rock for our region in Southwest Sweden. Common assignments include inspections and assessments of rock chambers, rock slopes, and tunnels, as well as planning and investigations for new construction of housing, roads, and railways. With us, you will develop in the direction you are interested in, alongside our senior colleagues in rock engineering, blasting technology, and documentation work. If you become part of our larger infrastructure projects, you will come into contact with our entire breadth within community building, from geotechnics, bridges, and construction to BIM and measurement technology.

In addition to becoming part of our community and benefiting from our network's combined expertise, we can offer everything from large complex infrastructure projects in road and railway with underground rock constructions to local rock engineering inspections, construction management, and design. Our assignments are often varied, and we work in interdisciplinary teams in good collaboration with some of AFRY's other 19,000 engineering experts.

The location for this position is Gothenburg, but there is also the possibility to work from one of our other offices in the region. 

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has worked with rock engineering for over 3 years and has experience in inspection, design, or following production with rock work. We see that you have the ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English and that you feel comfortable actively participating in technical discussions, as well as thriving in an environment characterized by collaboration and customer contact.

You should have a university or college degree with a focus on engineering geology or rock engineering. Experience with tunnels, CAD skills, and familiarity with technical descriptions and AB/ABT are advantageous. A B driver's license is a requirement.
