About Us

Welcome to the surgical department on the 9th floor of Nyköping Hospital. Here you will find an exciting workplace with varied and challenging tasks. We care for patients who require inpatient surgical care for both the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, as well as trauma and urology. Patients are cared for here due to acute needs or for care related to planned surgical or urological procedures.

We are looking for someone who either already finds the surgical specialty educational and exciting, or someone who wants to develop and learn more about surgical care. You should thrive in a varied and dynamic work environment where you learn from your colleagues and grow in your role as a nurse.

In the surgical department, we actively work on development and improvement and are seeking more engaged employees who want to help make the department even better. We offer a competency program with regular training sessions, coaching, and guidance, and have developed an educational library with courses that our employees are offered to increase their competence. Studies during working hours can be offered by agreement, and we look forward to a future with increased specialist competence in the department. Care leaders with surgical further education, engagement in learning for acute situations, and section leaders focused on our various specialties are available to provide security and knowledge in medical and care situations. We plan for job shadowing both within and outside the clinic's walls, both during your onboarding and continuously while you work with us. When you are onboarded with us, you will receive an individual onboarding tailored to your previous skills and experience.

Within the clinic, we can offer rotation services where you can rotate between the clinic's different departments and outpatient clinics. The results from our latest employee survey show that 98% recommend their workplace.

Your Responsibilities

Your tasks consist of surgical-specific and general nursing in inpatient care. You will manage medications, central and peripheral access, nutrition, stomas, catheters, drains, and more related to both general and surgical nursing. The department is divided into three sections: the upper gastrointestinal tract, the lower gastrointestinal tract, and urology. As a nurse, you will work in a team with a nursing assistant. We use care weight measurement and, based on that, adjust extra resources as needed. There are several support functions around the team such as meal hosts, pharmaceutical support, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. We have care leaders and section leaders who are clinically available for competence and support. Our discharge coordinators lead and support discharge planning to municipalities and primary care.

Your Competence

We are looking for a licensed nurse. We place great importance on personal qualities. Experience in caring for surgical and urology patients is an advantage.

We strive to achieve specialist nurse competence in surgery and, by agreement, offer partially paid further education.

Employment Form

Permanent employment with start date according to agreement. We have individual scheduling with weekend work 2 out of 5 weekends. We are keen to meet individual needs. By agreement, there is the possibility of a work schedule model that provides reduced working hours. There is also the possibility of night shifts.
