The Vascular and Thoracic area conducts highly specialized vascular surgery with operations in outpatient care, inpatient wards, surgery, and TIVA. We also have an established collaboration with the Venous Center at Karlskoga Hospital for day surgery varicose vein surgery.

The Vascular Section in Region Örebro County has long been conducting advanced vascular surgery and has been a leader in endovascular aortic surgery. We have a consolidated expertise in both open and endovascular central and peripheral vascular surgery. Unlike many other hospitals, we do not have dedicated interventionists, which means that our vascular surgeons perform the entire spectrum of vascular interventions themselves.

Research is a natural and prioritized part of our mission, with extensive activity in areas such as endovascular treatment methods, aortic pathology, resuscitation, and trauma surgery. As a vascular surgeon with us, you will work with the entire care chain for patients with vascular diseases, from investigation and assessment to treatment. You will supervise residents and students, actively participate in operational and quality development, and collaborate closely with the hospital's trauma unit in acute situations.

Research is an integral and mandatory part of the position, and you are expected to contribute to the section's research activities by participating in ongoing projects or driving your own research initiatives within our prioritized areas.

You have a strong team spirit and a well-developed ability to collaborate across professional and unit boundaries, as well as a willingness to contribute to both clinical and academic development. Experience in research is meritorious, and a documented interest or ongoing engagement in research activities is seen as a significant asset.
