We are now looking for a skilled Construction Mechanic for an established transport company in Kiruna with approximately 120–130 employees, the majority of whom are drivers. The company operates an extensive fleet of machinery in the mine, where operations run around the clock. A total of over 100 vehicles and construction machines are managed, including wheel loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, excavators, and trucks.

Here, you will work in an environment where freedom under responsibility, high satisfaction, and a strong team spirit are at the center. You will belong to a good team of 4-5 mechanics. The mechanic team here is tight, competent, and works without micromanagement — you will take responsibility, plan your own work, and solve what needs to be done.

About the position

As a construction mechanic at our client's company, you will work with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of heavy construction machines in a mining environment. You will work independently and prioritize your tasks in dialogue with the workshop manager. The pace is high, the machines run 24/7, and the assignments vary from day to day.

Here, the main focus is not on regular service jobs. The role focuses more on advanced mechanics, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Your tasks

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of construction machines
  • Emergency interventions in a mining environment
  • Maintenance and technical measures
  • Repairs on machines such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo CAP, Scania, etc.
  • Independent planning and prioritization of the workday
  • Collaboration with the workshop manager and other mechanics

We are looking for someone who

  • Has experience with construction machines or heavy vehicles
  • Is self-sufficient and confident in making independent decisions
  • Has a good ability to troubleshoot advanced machine faults
  • Has a strong work ethic and enjoys a free role
  • Is team-oriented and contributes to a good work environment
  • Has a Category B driver's license

Meritorious

  • Experience with Caterpillar or Komatsu
  • Experience with Scania or Volvo CAP
  • Welding skills
  • Ability to teach and support other mechanics

Working hours

  • Full-time, ongoing. You will be directly employed by the client company.
  • 7 days on / 7 days off (wow!)
  • Working hours: 06:00–16:00
  • Paid lunch
  • Alternatively, there is a daytime role Monday–Friday for one of the positions

We offer

  • Salary based on competence (30,000 – 55,000 SEK depending on experience)
  • Employee housing
  • Wellness allowance
  • A workplace with freedom under responsibility
  • A tight, competent team and a work culture where everyone helps each other
  • Collective agreement
