Field of Activity: Forensic Psychiatry
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
The Forensic Psychiatric Unit cares for patients who have been convicted of crimes and have been transferred to forensic psychiatric care. This means we receive patients with varying psychiatric conditions. In the unit, we work from a long-term perspective where, in addition to medication, care, educational interventions, and psychological treatment focused on preventing recidivism are important components.
The Forensic Psychiatric Unit currently consists of two care departments with newly opened security class 2, security class 3, and an outpatient clinic. In April 2024, we moved to newly built premises in Jälla outside Uppsala.
We are looking for you
We are looking for someone who, together with other employees, wants to help develop care for patients in the forensic psychiatric unit. We can offer a stimulating workplace with a strong focus on care, content, and development. We take advantage of innovations and ideas, and actively work towards our vision:
”To deliver Sweden's best forensic psychiatric care, every day, around the clock!”
Your Mission
As a nurse or specialist nurse in the department, you will assess, plan, and perform specific care. You have a leading role and contribute a care perspective in the interprofessional team. We have long care periods and therefore place great emphasis on relationship-building work. You will participate in quality and development work within your area of expertise.
We work with differentiated tasks depending on whether you are a general nurse or have a specialist education. As a specialist nurse, you have additional responsibility to lead and develop psychiatric care both patient-near and at the unit level together with other specialist nurses. You provide collegial guidance.
Your Qualifications
You who are applying are an experienced nurse, a newly graduated nurse, or a specialist nurse in psychiatric care. Experience and knowledge of leadership at a comprehensive level, supervision of students, and experience in quality and development work within psychiatric care are desirable and meritorious but not a must.
Your Competence
You are interested in developing in the role of a leader. You are firmly anchored in the profession's ethical code and do not hesitate to translate it into practical action in relation to both patients and colleagues. You are proud of your profession, have good analytical and reflective abilities, and contribute to care expertise to improve and develop care. Experience in psychosis care or forensic psychiatric care as well as an interest in care development is meritorious. A driver's license is also an advantage. In the hiring process, great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
We Offer
A permanent full-time employment during the day, evening, and weekend with placement in the forensic psychiatric unit. A probationary period may be applied. Prior to employment, extracts from the suspicion and criminal record will be taken.
We offer a stimulating job with a great variety of tasks. Scientific improvement and development are seen as a natural part of the position. We provide professional supervision from a specialist nurse every week, and you have strong collegial support in the group. To ensure care quality, we actively work to develop a good and attractive working environment for nurses. This means that we value and protect the nurse's autonomous professional practice, have high care competence, and ongoing development work in care. We welcome your interest in research and teaching in collaboration with Uppsala University.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
