Sales Manager for Vehicle Suspension
Strömsholmen AB continues to grow within advanced solutions for hydraulic suspension for the international defense industry.
We are now looking for a Sales Manager for vehicle suspension who wants to combine their military technical understanding with international business development – in an industry that is currently undergoing an exciting transformation.
About Strömsholmen
Strömsholmen develops, manufactures, and markets gas springs and gas hydraulic systems for heavy off-road vehicles and press tools. We have developed and refined this technology since 1983 and have been world leaders for many years with an export rate of 95 percent. Strömsholmen was founded in 1876 and has since been based in Tranås, Småland. The company is an independent part of the American Barnes Group Inc., which was acquired by Apollo Global Management Inc. in the USA this year.
About the Position
As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing business within the suspension area, focusing on customers and suppliers in the defense industry. The position involves global sales to manufacturers of heavy vehicles and authorities in defense vehicles – primarily heavy wheeled vehicles where our hydraulic gas springs are a critical part of performance. You will be part of a sales team consisting of seven colleagues and report directly to the Sales Director. The position involves international travel and the location is Tranås.
The sales work is primarily conducted directly with international manufacturers of heavy military vehicles but also through resellers. As a new Sales Manager, you will step into several ongoing projects, while over time you are expected to build new business relationships. In this role, you will work daily with in-depth customer dialogues, interpretation of complex technical specifications, and in close collaboration with both customers' and our own R&D teams. Here, the sales cycles are long – 3 to 7 years - and require perseverance, structure, and the ability to navigate detailed requirements.
You will collaborate closely with an experienced team in sales, system support, and program management. Together, you will drive development projects, test vehicles in the field, and ensure that the solution works in reality.
In recent years, Strömsholmen has opened up for increased customer customization and opportunities to influence the product's design. You will be an active part of this – with the opportunity to contribute to both customer projects and internal improvements. You will need to be on-site in Tranås three days a week to influence internal processes and work closely with development, production, and quality.
Who We Are Looking For
This is a position for you with a background in military technology – either through the Armed Forces, work with the defense industry, or as a supplier under military specifications. We prefer that you have experience from international sales work, perhaps from the automotive industry or another industry with strictly regulated technical requirements, complex documentation, and high precision. You have experience with long sales cycles, are business-oriented, and skilled at building relationships and negotiating.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a marathon rather than a sprint, where you build momentum through systematic, solution-focused, and goal-oriented work. You have a natural competitive instinct, good energy with a positive demeanor, and you enjoy working closely with engineers and technical teams. To thrive and succeed, you are comfortable in international environments and in meeting other cultures. You are confident in your skills and are a true team player.
Requirements:
- Swedish citizenship
- Very good English in speech and writing
- Experience in military technical specifications
- Good understanding of working technically-commercially
- Ability to travel globally approximately 30–40 days/year
