We welcome you to the Eye Care Department and Ward 205!

Ward 205 is the only care ward for eye care in Västra Götaland. With 16 open care places, we care for patients from across the region for their eye conditions. We also provide national highly specialized care.

As a nurse in our ward, you will treat patients suffering from conditions such as retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, and keratitis. You may also treat patients who have sustained eye injuries due to fireworks, sports injuries, or cuts and punctures.

Currently, 24 nurses and ten nursing assistants work in the ward. As the need for care increases, we are looking for another nurse to join our team to meet tomorrow's needs.

The field of ophthalmology is exciting and larger than most people think. It is, for example, the specialty with the most registered disease diagnoses. Our operations are constantly growing, and we actively work to develop and find new working methods and techniques.

We have short care times with an average of two days, fast flows, and a low care burden. The work is varied in terms of intensity, patients, and tasks. The patients we meet range from one year old and up.

As a nurse in Ward 205, you will feel involved; we put the patient in focus and work together as a team to deliver the best possible care experience. We also ensure that we support each other and allow joy and community to fill our workdays. A welcoming and helpful climate.

We design an individual introduction and training in eye care. It is important for us to utilize your skills while also giving you opportunities for further education.

The position involves

Caring for our patients in the ward, including pre- and post-operative care. Varied work with surgical and medical patients. Telephone advice and work on evenings and weekends are included in the position. In the evenings and weekends, our emergency operations are moved to the care ward.

Your profile

You are a licensed nurse, and previous experience in ward work is an advantage.

To thrive with us, you should be a person with good collaboration skills who enjoys working in a team. You are structured and flexible and want your work to be varied and challenging. You have a good attitude towards both patients and colleagues and a positive approach.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Basic Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Basic Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. Additionally, it includes service in at least two different wards to broaden your competence.

In the case of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
