The role of a guardian/trustee involves helping a person to safeguard their financial and legal rights, such as paying bills or applying for benefits.

The regulations surrounding this can be found in the Parental Code. As a guardian/trustee, you make an important contribution to both the person you represent and society. Often, this assistance is crucial for the individual, as it contributes to increased stability and security in their life situation.

Responsibilities

As a guardian/trustee, you have a personal commitment according to the Parental Code and are responsible to the supervisory board in the Umeå region. As an employed representative at the municipal management office, you handle the most complicated guardianships within the municipality. The complexity of the assignments, which involve both legally complicated issues and advanced finance, as well as clients with aggressive behavior, substance abuse, mental health issues, and cognitive/intellectual disabilities, places high demands on you as a representative.

Qualifications

You have a university degree with a focus on behavioral or social sciences or have other education or work experience that the employer deems relevant for the position. Experience in financial accounting and social work is an advantage.

You work independently while being able to collaborate easily with others. Structure and quality are central parts of your work. You express yourself well in both speech and writing.

A valid driver's license (category B) is required.

Due to legislation, a police record extract must be presented upon employment.

The municipal management office operates under the municipal executive board and is tasked with leading, coordinating, supporting, and following up on the overall municipal operations.
