The County Administrative Board is looking for employees for the Nature Management Unit.

The unit is primarily based in Jokkmokk and works with the management of protected areas as well as the administration of the state trail system and nature supervision.

About the job

The unit's tasks include supervision of illegal hunting of large predators and compliance with regulations in protected areas. The task of managing trails and protected areas involves making them accessible and attractive, as well as maintaining and enhancing existing natural values. The state trail system (summer and winter trails) amounts to 2830 km of trails.

In addition, we also participate in both Interreg and Life projects.

Your primary task will be to be one of two GIS specialists within the unit. You will develop field support and mapping services as well as database support and assist the unit with various GIS-related tasks. Participating in Interreg projects may also be a common task.

Travel is required in the position.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • an education suitable for the tasks or other knowledge and experience that we assess as equivalent in GIS/GIT
  • experience working digitally with IT administrative support and database management.
  • worked with ArcGIS and databases from a user perspective.
  • the ability to express yourself clearly, simply, and understandably both orally and in writing in Swedish.
  • a driver's license (B)

You are pedagogical with good communication skills and can explain and break down issues for people in different target groups. You have a good ability to plan and drive your work independently while being skilled at working together with others.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • knowledge or experience in environmental and nature-related issues
  • knowledge of procurement of goods and services and experience working in the public sector
  • experience working on a project basis
  • experience systematically implementing IT support in administration (planning and follow-up) and mentoring and supporting others in IT management.

Good to know

We use a six-month probationary period.

If you are called for an interview, you may be asked to complete a work sample.

Since some jobs with us require security clearance, you may need to undergo a security review before employment. This includes a security interview and background check. For some positions, Swedish citizenship is required.
