Medical services provide support and services to the Skåne healthcare system. Our services range from laboratory medicine and medical technology to assignments in pre-hospital care and research. We are approximately 2,100 employees in the administration.

Laboratory Medicine Basic is a specialty-independent and growing area within the administration. We provide diagnostics to support care and treatment and conduct a broad and high-tech operation within the specialties of clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, clinical immunology, and transfusion medicine, as well as sampling and functional examinations. The operation will expand further in the coming years to adapt the diagnostic offerings for future care.

To maintain quality and competence, we continuously collaborate with other areas within the administration and have close cooperation with managers, process leaders, and doctors within these specialties. Together, we actively work to develop and improve methods, flows, and processes to create competitiveness adapted to the future needs of healthcare.

The mission of the operation includes, in addition to diagnostics, consulting services for healthcare, training of, among others, doctors and biomedical analysts, as well as collaboration with universities on current research and development projects. Our operations also include the area of imaging and laboratory technology, which is responsible for medical technology safety.

The operation is conducted in nine locations in Skåne (Helsingborg, Hässleholm, Kristianstad, Landskrona, Lund, Malmö, Trelleborg, Ystad, and Ängelholm) and consists of approximately five hundred employees, where the largest employee category is biomedical analysts. We also employ other professional categories such as biomedical scientists, administrators, nursing assistants, and nurses. Together, we respond to approximately 17 million test results annually.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome a unit manager to Unit 3, Laboratory Medicine Basic in Lund who wants to develop our operations together with a competent team!

The position involves shared leadership where you are three managers who together have the overall management responsibility. You have direct personnel responsibility for approximately 20 employees. As a unit manager, you work closely with your managerial colleagues on the daily operational work of the unit. Together, you create clarity regarding decisions, set goals, and working methods. As a unit manager, you are part of the management group of the operational area and together with the other unit managers, you report to the operational manager. As a unit manager, you have access to administrative support such as HR and finance. Together, we work for an efficient and goal-oriented operation with the delivery of the best possible quality for patients but also the best possible working environment for our employees. Your role also includes strategic work with the management group of the operation, where a good ability to work with both small and large issues in a holistic perspective is valued.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have an appropriate higher education in biomedical science, healthcare, or other education and experience deemed equivalent by the employer. Additionally, you have previous leadership and/or management experience with responsibility for personnel, operations, and budget. Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing is required for the position. We expect you to be an experienced computer user. Experience from laboratory operations such as analytical methodology and accredited operations is an advantage.

You are goal- and results-oriented with a focus on driving the operation forward, balancing the care of patients and employees.

In your leadership, you have the ability to see the whole and make and implement decisions. Furthermore, you should be able to inspire, motivate, and develop your employees. Your communicative ability and interest in people make it easy for you to create good relationships and collaborate both within and outside the unit. You lead through and share Region Skåne's values.
