Professional Galaxy is now seeking a strategic buyer for a consulting assignment with our client in the defense industry. This assignment is an opportunity to contribute to strengthening Sweden's and our client countries' defense capabilities – in an operation where technology, business, and social utility meet.

As a consultant in this role, you will be a key person in one of Sweden's most technology-intensive industrial projects. You will work in an international environment with complex business dealings where long-term thinking, structure, and business acumen are crucial.

About the assignment: In the role of strategic buyer, you will be responsible for driving and developing commercial arrangements with suppliers – from strategy and contracts to follow-up and supplier development. You will closely collaborate with colleagues in production, development, marketing, and after-sales to ensure that purchasing solutions support both business goals and technical requirements.

Your main tasks include: -Developing and implementing purchasing strategies within defined areas -Negotiating commercial terms and drafting supplier agreements -Leading and coordinating supplier teams in collaboration with other functions -Establishing and further developing relationships with both new and existing suppliers -Monitoring and analyzing supplier performance related to cost, lead time, quality, and delivery capability -Driving initiatives and improvement work with structure and determination Requirements: We are looking for someone with several years of experience working strategically in roles such as strategic buyer, procurement officer, or project manager. You thrive in the intersection of business, technology, and operational development and have the ability to understand how purchasing strategies affect both profitability and technical results.

Formal requirements: -Academic degree in economics or another relevant discipline -At least 3–7 years of experience in business-driven roles within strategic purchasing, procurement, or project management -Strong negotiation skills in complex and international environments -Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Preferred qualifications: -Experience from the defense, aerospace, or manufacturing industry -Interest in technology and understanding of total cost perspective over the lifecycle -Experience working in larger organizations with cross-functional collaboration Other information Location: Linköping Work model: Hybrid solution, but the consultant needs to be on-site at the start and primarily work on-site Start: As agreed Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension Security classification: The position is security classified, and an approved security clearance according to applicable regulations is required before starting
