The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. Job Description
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg in Kalix is looking for treatment assistants for on-call positions who want to support change in a young person's life.
SiS Youth Home Johannisberg is a high-security institution beautifully located next to the Kalix River in the quiet residential area of Grytnäs. The institution is in a development and expansion phase where efforts to increase staffing and security are underway. Our target group in Kalix is boys aged 16 - 21 placed under the Act on Closed Youth Care and the Act on Care of Young People. All work is permeated by our guiding principles: Respect, Care, and Clarity. Even as a substitute, you will receive solid training with guidance and further education in areas such as security, unauthorized influence, conflict management, CPR, and more.
As a treatment assistant, you work in a team on the department with competent colleagues who are waiting for you to become part of the team. Daily tasks include building trusting relationships and motivating our youth to adopt new and less risky ways of living. You play an important role in the stability of our youth and are responsible for the foundation of daily life, including schooling, activities, cooking, and cleaning. As a treatment assistant, you also contribute to maintaining safety in the institution according to our guidelines and routines.
As a substitute, you work as needed. You make yourself available in our staffing system Netwic and are booked according to your availability. This way, you create the flexibility you need between work and leisure. The shifts you can make yourself available for vary from day, evening, weekend, and night work.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has the ability to build trusting relationships with our youth. You have a positive view of people and your drive is to work with young people. You share SiS's values of being a place for change. As a person, you relate to others in a responsive and flexible manner while being able to set boundaries and follow decisions made. You are secure, stable, and able to maintain a professional demeanor even in pressured situations. You work well with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You should also have:
- At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational school (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.
- Good Swedish in speech and writing
- Good physical ability
*Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468). Please attach high school grades and/or diploma for post-secondary education to your application.
Meritorious:
- Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, such as in correctional care, psychiatry, healthcare, or equivalent
- Driver's license B
