About the Role

The Traffic Authority is responsible for sustainable, safe, and reliable public transport in the Stockholm Region. As part of this work, we need to conduct a current situation analysis of the biodiversity within and adjacent to our properties. The focus is on inventorying invasive species and valuable natural environments, particularly in areas close to transport tracks such as embankments and depots.

The results will contribute to long-term planning for maintenance, management, and control where necessary. The assignment will commence as soon as possible, with the final report to be delivered by December 2025.

Roles and Responsibilities

Senior Biologist (1 consultant)

  • Leads and plans the inventory work
  • Ensures quality of deliveries and methodology
  • Participates in meetings with the Traffic Authority and is responsible for review

Junior Biologist (2–5 consultants)

  • Conducts the majority of field inventory
  • Documents and writes reports
  • Participates in meetings as needed
Deliverables
  • Written report describing methods and results
  • Maps in PDF and GIS format (Shape, GeoPackage, or equivalent)
  • Data that can be integrated into BESTA for future management and maintenance plans
Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Relevant academic background in biology or related field
  • Experience in species inventory, preferably with a focus on invasive species
  • Good ability to document and report in Swedish
  • Able to work independently and in teams

Desirable:

  • Experience from inventorying in track environments or equivalent
  • GIS competence (creation of maps and species data)
  • Familiarity with regional or national management plans for biodiversity
