The operations of social psychiatry fall under Units for Social Interventions for Adults and we belong to Individual and Family Care.

We have 4 psychiatric residences with round-the-clock operations as well as support teams that provide services in the client’s own home during weekdays. This means we can offer you both daytime, full-day shifts, and pure night shifts.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will be a social, motivating, and pedagogical support in the client’s home and local environment.

You should be able to meet, converse, support, and help the client in a professional manner, based on the individual’s needs. The needs are varied, and we meet residents of Borlänge within the age span of 20-65+ years, all of whom have a mental disability. The support is based on participation and is shaped individually for each person.

You are an engaged employee focused on the client’s best interests and actively work based on an implementation plan. You need to accept that the work involves abrupt changes between different activities. We will focus on working with the strengths of each individual, which requires an openness to differences.

The work involves:

• Working rehabilitatively with supportive/training interventions, but sometimes compensatory interventions may also occur during periods when the individual is feeling worse in their illness.
• Motivational and activation support in the individual’s apartment and/or in common areas.
• Support in structuring daily life and finding/following routines.
• Support in breaking isolation and participating in community life.
• Support in social interaction and communication with others.
• Support in difficult conversations and in contacting authorities and community functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

You may be in training or fully qualified as a nursing assistant, social pedagogue, treatment assistant, treatment pedagogue, or as a caregiver in psychiatric care. Alternatively, you may have an education that the employer deems equivalent.

It is an advantage if you have training in pedagogy, low-affect responses, and motivational interviewing.

A driver’s license is required in the support teams as a car is used for visits. You must have a very good command of the Swedish language as there are administrative tasks such as record-keeping.

Personal qualities:

You are structured and at the same time responsive to other people’s opportunities for development, and can also read when they need support. You need to be secure in yourself and be in a good place in life, i.e., grounded. You should be able to work independently but also understand why we need to have close collaboration in the workgroup and why we must work towards the same goals and follow established routines.

Flexibility is good, but what does it mean for you? For us, it means that no day is like the other, and sometimes it requires adapting the day according to what happens in the operations. We have a lot of fun at work, and we welcome you to become a part of our team.
