Nurses, Ambulance Personnel, and Alarm Operators

– welcome to register your spontaneous application to work in ambulance care.

Work with Us

The ambulance is an important player in modern emergency care where advanced treatment is provided outside the hospital. It is a varied job where we often focus on one patient at a time. We work in two shifts which provides more recovery time and there is an opportunity for training during work hours.

In the county, there are 4 ambulance stations located in Enköping, Tierp, Uppsala, and Östhammar. Within the Ambulance Care section at Akademiska sjukhuset, both ambulance and alarm center are included. The healthcare alarm center plays an important role in the first contact with patients in need of an ambulance. The alarm operator is the first link in the care chain before the ambulance or air ambulance arrives.

Our Employment Requirements

Working as ambulance staff is developing, exciting, and sometimes challenging. We require medical knowledge, physical endurance, and the ability to solve problems. Our employment requirements are set both to ensure the ability to perform the job itself and to prevent work-related injuries.

As a nurse at the alarm center, you will receive calls from those seeking help. Each call results in an assessment, prioritization, and action. Your task is to help the patient to the right level of care with the help and support of a unique medical decision support system. As a nurse/alarm operator, you will handle and assist those calling 112. You will quickly get an overview of what has happened and then act based on the current circumstances.

Nurse - Ambulance

You are a licensed nurse with at least one year of experience in emergency care. Further education in ambulance care, emergency care, anesthesia, or intensive care is an advantage. A B driver's license is mandatory, and it is advantageous if you have a C1/C license, or alternatively a B license issued before July 1, 1996.

Ambulance Personnel

You are a nursing assistant with at least three years of experience in emergency care and very good driving skills or have completed ambulance care training with experience in ambulance care. You must have a C1/C license or a B license issued before July 1, 1996.

Before employment for the positions of nurse - ambulance and ambulance personnel, you will undergo a suitability test in the form of a physical test, driving test, interview with department heads, and an inventory of medical knowledge. You will also need to submit a swimming certificate (200 m).

Nurse - Alarm Operator

You are a nurse with at least two years of experience. You are a good listener who can give instructions in acute medical conditions and can easily think outside the box. You will have close collaboration with both your own workgroup and ambulance staff. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Experience in emergency care and telephone assessment is advantageous.
