Assembler at Ö-varvet

Do you want to work at a shipyard with a long tradition and over 100 years of experience in boat building and repair? At Ö-varvet, part of Öckeröborgen, we take pride in working with everything from service and maintenance to repairs and new construction. Here, you will get to work on everything from the Armed Forces' boats and fishing boats to newly built boats for the Sea Rescue.

Job Responsibilities

We have several positions to fill, where the tasks and work environment vary depending on the department. Some departments work outdoors, which means a varied workday with weather and nature as companions. Other departments are located in indoor production facilities. Since we work with boats, it can get cramped and sometimes a bit dirty – but that’s part of the job and makes it a bit more exciting!

As an assembler with us, your workdays may include everything from assembling pipes, valves, and technical equipment to removing a propeller shaft or replacing a wooden strip in the ceiling of a boat. The work is varied, and you may get to try everything from welding to adapting modern solutions to older constructions.

If you are a beginner, you will start by learning the basics, such as checking and troubleshooting different parts of the boat. We often work in pairs so that you receive support and have the opportunity to ask questions – all to ensure you feel secure and can develop.

If you have experience, you will receive more advanced tasks, such as servicing and upgrading technical equipment or carrying out renovations with tailored solutions.

Examples of Job Responsibilities:

• Assembly of interiors, pipes, valves, hulls, and other components
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving on equipment
• Working with either new construction or repair and maintenance
• Collaborating with colleagues from various professions to drive projects forward

Ö-varvet is a new construction and repair/service shipyard that performs dry docking, repair/service, renovations, new construction, and marine electronics in Öckerö. Our mechanical production takes place in Hönö, where we manufacture winches and steel and aluminum constructions.

We are located in a fantastic environment out in Öckerö. If you live out on the islands, you probably know how to get here, but it’s also easy to reach us from the city. Ferries depart every ten minutes from Lilla Varholmen, and the journey takes only 12 minutes. Once across, it’s just a couple of kilometers to the shipyard, and there are both bus connections and a nice bike path.
