The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is a specialist psychiatric clinic with over 400 employees. We have 2 general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units.

We are now looking for a nurse for the Addiction Psychiatry Clinic, which is part of the psychiatric clinic at Umeå University Hospital. We consist of two services: the Clinic for Medication-Assisted Rehabilitation and Treatment for Opioid Dependence (Laro) and the Dual Diagnosis Clinic (DDM). This advertisement is for a nurse position at Laro.

The team at Laro consists of nurses, social workers, doctors, and psychologists as needed. Care and treatment are regulated by the National Board of Health and Welfare's care and intervention program for Laro. Patients self-refer to Laro, after which an assessment is made to determine if they belong to the target group for the program. Laro collaborates extensively with other community actors and authorities such as social services, the social insurance agency, the employment agency, and the prison and probation service, among others.

DDM caters to patients who have a severe substance/alcohol use disorder according to DSM-5 and a psychiatric comorbidity that requires specialized psychiatric care. We work in a team-based manner according to the case management model, and the teams consist of doctors, psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff. Both Laro and DDM have access to occupational and physiotherapists as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Each day begins with a short morning meeting where the day is planned. Then we have a Drop-In clinic for patients where the nurses conduct an initial medical assessment, followed by medication administration and any necessary testing. Based on the day's patient contacts, any unplanned actions are handled, which can involve anything from wound dressings to contacts with authorities. Planned patient visits follow, with individual care actions, sips, and referral assessments. Other tasks include preparing medications, conducting rehabilitative conversations, motivational interviewing, collaboration, rounds, and TeleQ.

At the Laro clinic, we are currently transitioning from a work model where nurses have been contact persons for patients to working in a team-based manner according to the case management model, which means that the team as a whole has joint coordination responsibility for the patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

For this job, you need to be a licensed nurse with experience or interest in psychiatry. You are welcome to have a specialist education focused on psychiatry and experience working with addiction issues, as well as experience in conducting Motivational Interviewing, but this is not a requirement.

You are a present and warm person who, with expert knowledge and care, sees the patient from a holistic perspective, making the care process better and safer. You enjoy collaborating and being there for other people.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
