On-call Firefighter

As an on-call firefighter, you work to help both the community and individuals when accidents occur.

You are constantly faced with new challenges as you never know in advance what alarms you will receive. These can include fires, traffic accidents, automatic fire alarms, assistance to ambulance and police, and more.

Job Description

The fire service is subordinate to the General Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the municipality fulfills its obligations under the Act on Protection Against Accidents (LSO).

The fire service operates from the fire station in Överkalix. In Överkalix, there is an operational capability consisting of one officer and four on-call firefighters available around the clock.

Initially, you will be a substitute on-call firefighter when regular staff is absent, primarily during the summer. Normally, you will be on call every fourth week and must be reachable 24/7, using a pager. Drills and training are conducted regularly for at least 50 hours per year. During on-call duty, you have a response time of 6 minutes in case of an alarm.

Your primary employer must approve your work as an on-call firefighter.

Qualifications

• You must have completed upper secondary education
• You live and work in Överkalix central location to be able to respond to alarms within 6 minutes
• You must be able to leave your regular job when an alarm occurs
• You must undergo training provided by the employer.

• good physical ability
• is a competent swimmer

Requirements

• A driver's license with B category and access to a car is required. C category is desirable.

You must be able to pass the following:

The employment may begin with a probationary period.
