Description

The newly formed district of Eastern Svealand-Gotland, starting January 1, 2025, is looking for someone to work as a forest consultant with us.

The focus is currently on contributing to our work with nature conservation issues. You will have many contacts with landowners and employees in forestry, as well as with other stakeholders related to the forest. As a forest consultant, you will have a job with varied and stimulating tasks, as well as opportunities for professional development. You will be part of a workgroup with other experienced forest consultants. You will belong to the Eastern Svealand-Gotland district but will work in a larger geography together with colleagues from other districts.

Responsibilities

You will initially primarily work with nature value assessments and inventories, as well as nature conservation management. The establishment and management of area protection may also be part of your tasks. The work is performed in the office and in the field. The work involves contacts with forest owners, other active participants in forestry, and relevant authorities and organizations.

Depending on your skills, focus, and the needs of the organization, other work may also become relevant. Examples of this could be participating in advisory activities or various projects. In your work, you may need to operate over a larger geography, which may require longer travel that could involve overnight stays.

As an employee at the Swedish Forest Agency, you are expected to contribute to the development of our operations.

Qualifications

You have either a university degree in biology or equivalent, along with good forestry knowledge, or a forestry university degree and good knowledge in nature conservation.

Experience in inventorying forest nature values and NVI according to Swedish standards, as well as good species knowledge, is meritorious. It is also an advantage if you have experience in nature conservation management of forests with very high nature values. We value good knowledge in IT/GIS.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. As a person, you should be proactive, have good collaboration skills, and enjoy varied tasks while seeing opportunities in changing conditions. You have the ability to take responsibility for different activities and can work independently towards set goals in a structured manner. You are communicative, pedagogical, and can engage in a trustworthy dialogue with landowners, various actors, and stakeholders in the forestry sector.

You have a value base and integrity that allows you to identify with the demands that the role of a civil servant entails.

A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.

Conditions

We offer a permanent position at 100% starting with a 6-month probationary period. Start date is as soon as possible or by agreement.

We apply individual salary setting, remote work agreements, and trust-based working hours.

Stationing in Uppsala or Vallentuna.
