Park and Garden Master at Engsholm Castle

We are now looking for an Operational Castle Gardener for the 2025 season, with the hope of a long-term working relationship with our team at Engsholm Castle.

The Role

About the position as Park and Garden Master

The tasks in this position cover a wide range. It's high and low by turns. As a Castle Gardener at Engsholm Castle, you are responsible for ensuring that our castle park, garden plots, and general park environments maintain the highest possible standard. You ensure that all seasonal tasks are planned and carried out with daily, weekly, or monthly routines.

Here you will find large perennial beds, garden plots where we grow crops and herbs for our kitchen, gravel paths, stone paths, roads, urns, summer flowers, grassy areas, and natural forest.

The work is very varied and partly very physically demanding.

We prefer that you have experience driving a tractor.

You are a problemsolver and often need to think outside the box.

Structure and documentation are also important in this position.

The position is mainly scheduled for Monday – Friday, but weekend work may occur.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Park maintenance and upkeep

• Maintenance, supervision, and development of the castle park
• Replanting flowers and watering urns & flower beds
• Care, sowing & harvesting of garden plots
• Edging of garden paths
• Weed removal from flower beds, castle terraces, and pathways
• Leaf collection
• Work with trimmer and possibly brush cutter
• Lawn mowing (areas that our 4 robots cannot handle)

Coordination and planning

• Maintenance planning, e.g. irrigation system
• Keep a logbook and annual plan for the castle park
• Maintain a continuous dialogue with owners & colleagues

Qualifications:

• High school education,
• Post-secondary education in park/garden management
• At least a few years of experience in park maintenance
• Good computer skills and experience with the Office package
• A valid driver's license is required
• Brush cutter certificate

Desirable:

• Chainsaw certificate & Brush cutter certificate

We do not have staff housing, but it is possible to stay overnight some nights a week in our hotel rooms.

The position is a seasonal employment April 1st – 1st or November 15th (depending on weather etc.)
