About Us

Region Sörmland's eye clinic is a regional clinic with outpatient services located at three hospitals in Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Katrineholm. We conduct approximately 60,000 visits per year and provide both surgical and outpatient services, including emergency care. The Eskilstuna outpatient clinic is the largest with about 45 staff members.

Those of us who work here include doctors, nurses, ophthalmic nurses, optometrists, nursing assistants, orthoptists, and administrative staff, all with different competencies to provide our patients with the best care.

Your Responsibilities

As a nurse at our eye clinic, you will have a varied and dynamic job. In the operating department, you will assist the doctor during various surgeries, including cataract surgeries, and be responsible for handling instruments, equipment, and sterilization. We have fast flows and a large number of patients coming to us, which requires great flexibility on your part.

Your tasks in the outpatient clinic include preparing patients for doctor visits with various examinations, but you may also have your own independent clinics, such as photographing the fundus and performing visual field tests. A large patient group with us consists of those who have problems with the macula. These conditions are treated with intravitreal injections, which our nurses perform after training. Counseling via TeleQ is also part of the responsibilities as a nurse, but this will only be relevant after you have gained some experience in our operations.

At our eye clinic, it is important that you receive proper orientation/training so that you feel secure when you start working independently. You will have a mentor whom you can always turn to with questions and concerns, and of course, other colleagues will always be close at hand.

Your Competence

Your formal basic competence is as an optometrist or a licensed nurse in health care, preferably with a few years of experience. If you are also a trained ophthalmic nurse and/or have experience from surgery or other tasks involving sterile handling, this is an advantage but not a requirement. You have a good ability to collaborate within and between professions and have a positive attitude towards your work.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. If you are interested in deepening your knowledge and skills, there is an opportunity for you as a nurse to later further your education to become an ophthalmic nurse.

Employment Type

Permanent employment with start date according to agreement. Daytime Monday - Friday.
